| The goal of the Get the Lead Out (GLO) project is to find and fix lead hazards before children get poisoned. GLO is currently administered by Action for a Better Community (ABC) in collaboration with the University of Rochester Medical Center and the City of Rochester.
This project leverages the Environmental Health Sciences Center’s and Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning’s local lead poisoning prevention experience to build community capacity and foster lead coalitions in three upstate counties with high lead risk: Cayuga, Chemung, and Oneida . This project is funded by a one-year grant from the New York State Health Foundation.
The Southwest Area Neighborhood Association (SWAN), the Rochester Fatherhood Resource Initiative (RFRI) , and the University of Rochester Medical Center have created a Healthy Home to help the community reduce home-based environmental health hazards.
The St. Monica's Creation Stewards hosted the Envirorama on February 2, 2008 with support staff from the Environmental Health Sciences Center. The Envirorama had display booths which highlighted St. Monica's on-going projects and actions related to environmental stewardship. |
