New NBFC Users

Thank you for your interest in the NeuroBehavioral Facility Core. Below is a listing of instructional files as well as the steps we need to go through to successfully design and execute your experiment.

* Steps 1 through 8 of the experiment checklist are required to be completed before any procedures can be performed in the core facility.

Experiment Checklist:
* 1. Initial Consultation with Dr. Zarcone -What are your goals?
-What is your timeline?
-What information do you need for the Experimental Consult (Step 2)?

* 2. Experimental Consult with Dr. Zarcone -Which equipment would be best?
-What sample size do you need?
-What age should your animals be?
-How many times should your animals be tested?
-How long should the sessions be?

* 3. User Form -Complete the NBFC User Form

* 4. Experimental Design -Detailed plan of sample size, the number of squads to be run, and at what age
-Complete the identifying information in the "Animal Listing" spreadsheet (via Google Docs)
-Review NBFC protocols for the apparatus and procedures you will be using

* 5. Total Cost Analysis by Dr. Zarcone -Using all of the information from above, Dr. Zarcone will prepare a total cost analysis.

* 6. UCAR Protocol Modification -Submit a modification adding the NBFC to your UCAR protocol.
-Wait for UCAR approcal to proceed.

* 7. Training -All staff that will assist in the experiment must come to the NBFC to learn about our facility, equipment, and procedures.

* 8. Schedule Sessions -Sessions can be scheduled via the online reservation system
-The NBFC requires 24-hour notice for any schedule additions, modifications, or deletions.

9. Data Analysis -At the conclusion of the experiment, verify that all of the information in the "Animal Listing" is complete and accurate for us to begin data analysis.

10. Data Analysis Report -Additional reports can be ordered
